Join us on a journey through history as we explore the ancient city of Luxor on a full-day tour from Hurghada. Your tour guide will meet you at your hotel lobby at 5:00 am and escort you to a modern, air-conditioned car or van (depending on your group size) for the 2-hour drive to Luxor. Along the way, there will be a 20-minute stop at a cafe for refreshments and restroom breaks.
At 9:00 a.m., your first stop will be the Temples of Karnak. This ancient religious complex was once the most important in Egypt and is now the second-largest ancient religious site in the world. Marvel at the massively decorated pillars, obelisks, statues, and kiosks, all built on a grand scale over 2,000 years.
At noon, you will enjoy a tasty lunch at a local restaurant before continuing your visit to Luxor. At 12:45 pm, you will head to the Valley of the Kings, where the tombs of the greatest pharaohs who ruled in the New Kingdom rest in peace. There are a total of 63 tombs, including the tomb of Tutankhamun. Included in the visit to the Valley of the Kings is the entrance to three of the tombs.
Against additional charge, you have the opportunity to enter the tomb of Tutankhamun.
At 2:30 pm, the tour continues to the Temple of Hatshepsut. The mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahri is one of the most impressive. Shortly after coming to power, she commissioned her mortuary temple and had it designed to tell the story of her life and reign. She broke with tradition and had herself crowned the pharaoh of Egypt. The temple is designed over three terraces that rise above each other, and steep and rugged limestone cliffs surround it.
At 3:45 pm, the trip will end with the sighting of the Colossi of Memnon. The Colossi of Memnon are two 18-meter-high statues standing as a landmark on the side of the road welcoming you to the West Bank. These two statues were supposedly standing guard at the temple of Amenhotep III. It would have been the biggest temple complex had the Nile not washed it all down.
At 4:00 pm, you will be driven back to Hurghada and dropped off at your hotel. Book our private day trip to Luxor by car or van and immerse yourself in the rich history of Egypt.
